Background

In October 2021, Amy Wang and her team approached us to translate, write, and subtitle materials for the French- and Spanish-language Be There Certificate. A free, self-paced, and interactive online course, the Be There Certificate is designed to increase mental health literacy among youth.

Translate the Be There Certificate into French and Spanish
Write French and Spanish multiple-choice, true-or-false, and fill-in-the-blank questions for the video quiz sections
Apply inclusive writing standards for both languages when writing and translating
Generate a concise transcript for subtitling (French and Spanish)
Translate subtitles accurately (French and Spanish)
Edit subtitles in SRT format for delivery to the client

Our approach
Reflect the voice of the client in all content produced
Be mindful of the importance of non-stigmatizing and safe mental health vocabulary that is relatable for youth
Hold a start-up meeting and several follow-up meetings throughout the project
Manage client requirements and multiple deadlines using agile principles
Establish a fixed team from the start to ensure continuity/uniformity between Spanish and French content
