How long do we keep your personal information

We retain your information for as long as necessary to achieve the purposes identified at the time of collection. However, the retention period for personal information may be extended even after those purposes have been achieved, in particular for legal or regulatory reasons.

Do we share your personal information outside Canada?

Depending on the nature of the personal information, it may be stored by Espresso or by service providers. Your personal information is generally stored in Quebec. However, for specific services, our service providers may be located outside the province or outside the country. Espresso takes reasonable steps to ensure that such service providers are committed to handling personal information held by Espresso in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable law. However, data held outside of Quebec may not benefit from the same legislative protection as data held in the province.

How do we protect your personal information?

The personal information we collect is kept in secure environments.

We endeavour to adopt reasonable physical, administrative, and organizational measures to protect personal information:

Espresso also has agreements with its service providers to ensure that information is kept strictly confidential. For example, your websites are hosted on the OVHcloud platform, which complies with a number of security standards, including ISO/IEC 27001, PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard), and SOC 2.

Do we share your personal information with third parties?

Below are the categories of third parties with which we may share your personal information and the circumstances in which this may occur.

  • Staff and freelancers. Personal information collected by Espresso is accessible to certain employees and freelancers who require access to such information in the performance of their duties and as set out in this policy. These individuals are bound by this policy and undertake to use personal information collected by Espresso strictly in accordance with this policy.
  • Service providers. Some personal information may also be disclosed to other individuals or organizations who are service providers to Espresso. In such cases, these individuals or organizations undertake to maintain the confidentiality of the personal information and to use it exclusively to fulfil their mandate to us. For example, we use Google Analytics 4 to collect browser cookies. Even though we do not directly transmit personal information, this provider may still have access to your personal data.
  • Legal requirements. We may also disclose collected personal information to other persons or organizations if a competent authority orders us to do so under applicable law or if applicable law expressly permits such disclosure, even in the absence of the consent of the individual concerned. Espresso may disclose certain personal information if we believe that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property, and safety of third parties and of Espresso.
