Alloprof is a Quebec-based charitable organization that develops professional services and digital learning resources that all Quebec students and parents can access free of charge.

Alloprof first approached Espresso in fall 2019 to create an English-language version of the Parents section of their website. As a result of this project, we developed a client-specific style guide and amassed a substantial translation memory.

We remain a language partner of the Alloprof communications department to this day.

A creative approach to translation and adaptation

We translate printable tools and articles intended for parents and teachers on a weekly basis.

Some texts are more straightforward, while others require creative adaptation to grab the audience’s attention.

A multi-stage collaboration

For our initial mandate, the team behind Alloprof Parents wanted us to create an English version of their website so they could share their practical resources with a wider audience.

We started by building a style guide and translation memory for the client.

Using these tools, our team translated Alloprof Parents’ online articles into English and tailored them to the website’s audience. By working closely with the client in the early stages of the project, we were able to develop a style that aligned with the organization’s mission and minimize corrections to subsequent translations.
